Kami Loertsher
Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, I found my way to the arts through music. I grew up singing and joined every choir I could, developing a love for performance at an early age. My introduction to theatre came in middle school when I performed in Seussical the Musical Jr as, you guessed it, the Sour Kangaroo, a role that sparked what would become a lasting passion for acting.
Throughout high school I continued pursuing theatre and trained classically under Joshua Long. During this time I studied and competed at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, where I deepened my appreciation for classical text and performance. Alongside theatre, I also found success in Utah’s commercial and modeling world, gaining early on-camera experience and building the confidence to pursue acting professionally.
Those experiences ultimately led me to Los Angeles, where I am currently completing my BFA in Acting at the California Institute of the Arts. My training there has allowed me to explore a wide range of performance styles, from classical theatre to contemporary and experimental film and television. My work spans stage and screen, and I am passionate about storytelling that feels honest and explorative. As an actor, I bring a deep curiosity about people and a strong sense of play to every role I approach.
In addition to my work as a performer, I found my way into production through student government. I served as Vice President in high school, which led to my role as an Ambassador for Utah State University and later as President of the Black Arts Collective at CalArts. Producing events on campus sparked a deeper interest in creating spaces for artists and community, and opened doors for me to produce events beyond school. I have since worked with organizations such as Utah Arts Alliance and Via Vintage, continuing to develop my voice as both a creative and a producer.
This work across performance and production continues to inform the stories I am drawn to and the spaces I hope to create. You will soon be able to see me in Fish Fry Media’s upcoming film The Booth (2027), as well as in Amanda Shank’s Exodus Promise, which is set to premiere next spring at the Sharjah International Film Festival.
